I have been here over 3 years now. As of August 2011 O'Reillys has changed the terms of their employees discount.

Employees used to purchase items at cost to the store. Corporate still makes a small profit even on items it essentially sells to its stores. Now employees pay close to what installer customers pay. O'Reillys is now profiting off the sales to its own employees.

The same people who are busting their *** to make this company more profitable are now getting their pockets raided by the greedy CEO's who have their noses firmly implanted up shareholders ***

I work here too. I work on the front lines in a store. I don't mind taking care of the company who takes care of me by sharing insurance costs, and providing a 401k, and helping me afford the parts to keep my vehicles going so I can take my kids to school everyday. My vehicles take gas.

My kids eat food. Neither of those has gotten cheaper in the past 2 years. Next year insurance will probbably double because our president has screwed up the cost of private health care (not O'Reillys fault). Now to make matters worse, my company has decided $719 million in gross profits wasn't enough last quarter (check the quarterly report on teamnet ladies and gents).

See where I feel like im not being taken care of anymore?? Now their looking for profits in our pockets.

If anybody else feels the urge to stop feeding the greed monster that is consuming this company, take your personal business elsewhere.

If you have to, print a quote of your price and take it to the competition. They will be glad to see your money!

Type your message here If your not happy with where you are woking , maybe you should find somewhere else to work. I would never send someone to a competitor unless we did not have the part or could not get it.

Going to upper management causes nothing but animosity and unfairness in the work place because 1) they don't keep things confidential like good management should, 2) they don't actually investigate issues like they SAY they will, 3) the issues at hand are orders directly from corporate. Or so the store managers say.

Which is the MAJORITY of the issues. Store managers LYING, about anything and everything.

I have been employed with Oreillys a year now as just a part time commercial driver but was still given a monthly sales goal. Ok.

I didn't understand the point of a part time driver having a sales goal but , regardless, I exceeded my sales goal every month for the last 6 months. I was told on hire that when I exceeded my goal 3 months in a row it would increase. Ok. Well my goal has increased EVERY month, and I have exceeded EVERY month.

So, as of last week my goal was not only taken away as a driver ONLY (thats corporates reasoning) bit I am STILL expected to sell but all my sales are to be entered under the commercial managers counter #. How is that even fair? I get no monetary or appreciation credit for it tho I run my *** off. They see commercial making their 35,000 goal when $10,000-15,000 of it isn't the commercial managers effort, its the peon drivers effort.

Not happy and currently negotiating a managers position, full time, paying $2.25 more an hour with auto zone. Oreillys just potentially lost a GREAT employee

for the employees off O'reilly auto parts if you have a problem with the way they run the company you need to go to your store manager or even your dm to come up with a way to handle it. posting negative comments on the internet is not the way to go about it, and by taking your money elsewhere your telling the customer that its ok to take there money elsewhere. and after working for other parts houses and now being a employee of O'reilly auto parts the customer is the person that makes my check im not gonna tell him its ok to take his money somewhere else, you need to support the company you work for and stop telling customers to go somewhere else theres ways to handle problems and posting your negative comments online is NOT the way to handle it.

I hear you. I wss on of you who worked for 13 years & 8 as aN assistant manager found I was going no-where because they were giving manager jobs to people with college degrees.

I had a auto mechanic degree so I new what I was doing there.

It's never been the same since the original founders Chub & Charlie O'Reilly was in charge.

They both retire some 15 years aho. I haven't worked for O'Reilly's for 10 years now but sill a few of the guys I worked & trained there.

Maybe they changed it back since this was posted.

I recently came on board with the company and employees pay inventory cost on most items.

The company as a whole has been fantastic to me. Knowing I have a chronic back condition, they gave me medical insurance almost immediately rather than making me wait out my probationary period.

It's not just me they are good to. They routinely go out of what they are required by law and by policy to do to make things better for team members.

This is one company that really does treat its people like members of a team rather than employees.

I laugh at this post I came across , I have now worked at oreillys about 8 months (this is a second job for me) and like every job I have had its no different , they are hear to make money although I do agree companies can do more and take a little less you have a choice... GO WORK SOMEWHERE ELSE, or do you not have any skills.

I save a lot of money on parts for my cars working here some parts I save more then other true but it is better then installers price. Get over it or go find a new job

Anonymous. If this company is such a terrible company, why not quit and go elsewhere?

No one is forcing you to stay. I am sure that someone else will think your position is worthwhile and apply for it.

Either grow up and do your job, or quit. With the present economy just be happy you have a job, lots of other would die for the one you have and think is so terrible.

Autozone and advance only offer 20% off for employees seems to me that you are getting a better deal some parts are not even offered at autozone or advance

This place sucks... I know somebody who got fired from there for not offering to install a light bulb...

bull ***... he was an RSS and transferred to another store and was only there a week... bull ***... O'Reillys is an AWFUL company...

don't shop there... Advance Auto is better... O'Reillys can burn to the ground... they treat their employees like garbage and their customer service at most of the stores is horrible...

they never call you when your part comes in and they lose the part that you ordered... NEVER will go there again...

I think one should be thankful to have a job. We shouldn't complain about our employer cutting our discounts (they are not obligated to do so in the first place).

As to advising people to take their business to the competitor, that is a rather ignorant thing to suggest. If they do that, it cuts into the commissions you get each month. I know it isn't much, but it can help pay a little on some of your bills. I would like to get parts at the company's cost myself, but I'll take what I can get and be appreciative.

As to the "Greed Monster", making a profit is not greed. Greed is taking what belongs to someone else (such as the government does when they increase our taxes), or expecting to be entitled to a portion of what someone else has worked for.

You didn't manufacture the parts, nor did you purchase them for resale, so what makes you think your employer is greedy, when you didn't invest any money in the business yourself? It appears to me, you are the one with the greed!

i have to agree with worker on this one, orileys has been great to me so far. i would have to say that your work experience would really just have to do with where you are.

i receive great training and mentoring on how to do everything to help the customer find the part they need. you will always have those people in positions of power that abuse it, it up to you if you want to report it up and make your workplace a better place.

and as for the discount, dear lord why are you complaining?!?! with the discount most parts are still *** near half off the price the installer or walk ins pay.

My husband has worked for O'reilly for 17 years well it just changed from kragen 2 years ago. He was a commercial manager there for 17 years and he has been demoted for not making the 40,000.00 a month in which the manager of the store does huge returns with his numbers.

even now that he is a rss with a 5.00 an hour cut in pay the manager did a 400.00 core under his numbers. Isn't that illegal I'm trying to find any laws about employees using a different employees number to do a unauthorized transaction.

does anyone know anything about this. I can't stand to see him being taken advantage of anymore.

linda, a 17yr commercial mgr under $40K is very rare, especially one that can take a $5 pay cut, that means he was paid quite a bit for doing very little for too long. If the manager returned a core under his # it would not come off of his sales directly once the total individual sales are tallied.

The returns are spread out across all tm's sales %. The only reasons I can see why the mgr would return a $400 core under someone elses # would be because the transaction was cash, not on charge account. If this hold true, there is no foul. If it was on a charge account, either the manager is ignorant about the process or doing it out of ignorant spite.

But again, $40K is what a top-gun front counterman would sell, but too low for a commercial guy. Especially a 17yr vet.

I've worked for this company for 19 years. This is not how the incentive is paid.

You should get your facts straight before you posted this. This is a GREAT company to work for.

it doesent matther is a core or a return is used for his number, the monthly quota is just sales, returns and cores dont count against it
